Pahalgam

Location: Anantnag District, 96 km from Srinagar.

How to Reach:The nearest Airport is in Badgam District. There is a bus stand at Batmallo from where you can get all sorts of transport to Srinagar.

Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit Pahalgam is during the summers, between mid-April and mid-November. It can also be visited in July-August during the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave of Amarnath.

Attractions: Golf, fishing/angling, pony rides, trekking (to Lidderwat, Kolohoi glacier and Sonmarg), camping, sledging, and Rafting.

The Pahalgam valley is situated at the confluence of the Seshnag Lake and the Lidder River. Pahalgam is basically a cluster of eight villages. The word Pahalgam literally means, the Valley of Shepherds. Tours to Pahalgam is associated with the annual Amarnath yatra. The region is extremely popular among tourists for its outdoor activities like fishing, horse riding, golf and trekking.
